GMO-Free Zone
In February 2016, the HFC launched a campaign to create a GMO-Free Zone in Hudson.
This initiative was motivated by news that for the first time in the western agricultural area, a 100-acre + piece of land was to be planted with round-up ready to GMO crops. Given that Hudson has been a leader in environmental policy in regards to pesticides, and given that there is a call to re-localize, diversified agriculture while the use of petro-chemicals, it seems that this would be a timely, realistic and progressive policy that would attract organic farmers.
