The Hudson Heartbeet Community Farm
As many of you know, the farm is the largest project of the Hudson Food Collective.
We decided to grow the Heartbeet through the HFC in order to focus on our social mandate to bring us all together over food, increase awareness around our food system and the people behind it, provide employment for young people in the area and add another positive, dynamic and wholesome community space to this town.
By choosing this model, however, we are unable to access any agricultural funding (from 'la financière agricole') normally available to new start-up farms. Thankfully, we were able to secure a good amount of initial funds through different entities but because we are a new organization we are unable to access the loans needed to complete our infrastructure and are thus reaching out to you, our community, to help us build the farm. We are reaching out to all of you today to ask for solidarity loans or donations to help us cover the 16 000$ we need to finish our first year.
We are reaching out to all of you today to ask for solidarity loans or donations to help us cover the 19 500$ deficit we need to finish our first year without debt that will negatively affect our ability to secure future grants and eventual loans. The farm managers have offered to put up a 3 000$ solidarity loan towards that dificit to help cover the amount.
